book review // knitting lace

If there is one knitting book that I had to have for fall knitting this year it's Wendy Knits Lace! My goal is make some beautiful, elegant knits for myself that will also be appropriate for the mild climate here in Tuscaloosa. Lace knitting will be perfect because it's lovely, light and airy! I've knit some simple lace patterns in the past, but I really wanted to find some "Wow!" patterns to try this time around.

The patterns in this book are amazing! The kind of projects that will make you glow when someone gives you a compliment on your scarf and you say, "Thank you, I made it myself." You know what I mean : )

Another really important part of knitting books is photography and styling - gorgeous shots of finished projects are 50% of my motivation to start and finish my own versions! I really love the lush styling and saturated colors used in this book... just look at the beautiful coral scarf on the cover. So gorgeous!

Another great thing about this particular book is that there are a variety of projects to choose from: socks, cowls, scarves, shawls and gloves, too. You can choose a quick knit, like a pretty cowl, or get involved in a longer project like a luxurious shawl.

I walked over to the yarn shop yesterday afternoon to get some new yarn for soft sculptures and picked up some beautiful Auracania Lonco to start one of the projects from this book! I think I want to try the scarf from the cover.

I would definitely recommend this book to all of you knitters planning projects for fall and winter. If you are already a fan of books from Potter Craft, you'll know what I mean when I say that they are great quality and full of creativity and inspiring ideas.
