Project ReStyle :: Granny Chic
I have a great ReStyle to share with you today! I found this granny nightgown at a thrift store a while back (umm... in December) and the warmer weather has given me the push I need to alter it and wear it! Here is the before photo...
... it was pretty cute already, but the sleeves were too long, it was missing a button, and the buttons were spaced really far apart, which created a lot of gapping making it unwearable outside the house (I guess you're not supposed to wear nightgowns outside!). And it was pretty shapeless, too.
I liked the floral pattern, the lace and ribbon detail, the length, and the airy cotton fabric, so it was worth a few minutes of work to turn it into a cute summer dress! I took the sleeves up about 1.5 inches, replaced the missing button, and stitched placket closed to eliminate the gapping problem (I left the top two buttons functional so I can put it on over my head).
I also added a fabric belt to give the dress a waist... it's taken from a skirt I already had and the two florals look really cute together! I'm pretty happy with this little makeover!
